What Are We Celebrating?
Celebrations are good for everyone involved. Everybody is happy and many would wish they last forever. That is a good feeling of a great celebration, but it is not always like that for everyone. Sometimes people celebrate the wrong things making others angry. This is like what I once said about giving thanks, for when we think of the hunter in front of the animal. He is thanking God for the capture, and the animal for the great dinner. Who’s the predator and who’s the prey? In this case I guess they both are for they both wanted the same for whatever reason. In both cases they are either “thanking” or celebrating their “good luck.”
In the case of the people celebrating we could say “Who’s celebrating the good and who’s celebrating the bad? And, what is the good or what is the bad?” In times of war or even in the case of sports encounters, one side wins and the other loses. In the case of sports it shows who played better, The winners go to celebrate and the losers go to practice and get better. In the case of war, I guess, who’s got better armament or weaponry, better tactics, kill more people in the army and sometimes even civilians. The winners go celebrate whatever the motivation was, whether bad or good. The motivation is not a fact in the sense that what’s bad for ones could be good for others. Usually the ones who start it do it for their own interests probably provoked by either, envy, hatred or gains desired, and that’s not good according to the ones who follow the peace. The ones who are attacked would be defending themselves which justifies; or leaves them no choice. We want peace, but don’t want injustice and some seek “peace” gun in hand, and celebrate anyway.
In this month we, Christians, celebrate the birth of our Savior, because we know that no matter how much all those who didn’t want Him around did by killing babies and trying to eliminate anybody or anything that related to His being here, HE MADE IT because He did it for His love for us (John 3.16) and anything that the powerful enemy [that so hates and envies the Lord God] does to eliminate the Love and the Peace He left us, is going to fail because the Bible says it to the ones who believe: You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is HE who is in you than he who is in te world. (I John 4.4) So we do not have to worry about anything for we are more than conquerors (Romans 8.37)
Our adversary, the devil, is scared because he knows his final time is near. We are in the concluding times and he and his followers will have the same outcome and it wouldn’t be a celebration surely for them. We celebrate now in spite of the wicked to whom Jesus also came to save but they did not want to because they rather jeopardize their infinite future in order to live a non lasting (ephemeral) pleasure. But we celebrate the truth which was announced.
And the angel said: “Do not be afraid; for behold I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a savior who is Christ the Lord.” (Luke 2.10-11) And this is great news to celebrate.
Merry Christmas !!!
