Are We Afraid to Die?

I do not know why we should be, if we know that sooner or later we all are going to die.

Actually, I think we all kind of are a little afraid because of the “unknown” fact. Many people may think of the unknown with certain respect because they do not know what might come out of the Pandora’s Box they might get in whatever deal made in life. It could be, for instance, engaging in a business, in a marriage, in a new house, anything that is “new” to us. It could be wonderful, but it could be disastrous too. It’s an enigma and It depends in how we go about it; if we act accordingly, we might be safe, if we don’t, things might get rough for the parties involved and can end pretty bad, even in death. So, I would say we must be a little “afraid” so we behave the way we should. One thing is for sure that we all are going to be face to face with The One who created us. That is why some people are terrified of dying.

Of course there’s a kind of people who are not afraid to die and I am in that group. It wasn’t always like that, though. My uncertainty about life covered most about everything and even though I had a pretty good life regarding “luck”, I knew it wasn’t my doing. I always gave the credit to my father who was a “saint” in respect to almost everything; a church going believer, a helper of anybody who had a need, never deceived anyone, always gave precious time/money to the needy, only thanked God for whatever outcome, was a great friend, father, teacher, giver, doer, and any good thing you could think of. Nevertheless, none of that is the reason for a great life (but the result). That one comes only by the Grace of God,  if we acknowledge it and that’s what I learned when I confronted death more than forty years ago, and I have been a real child of God ever since, who depend on Him for everything. That is why I am not afraid for I have experienced many of His promises like the one given to Joshua: The Lord is the One who goes ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed. (Deuteronomy 31.8).  It isn’t like I don’t have a problem. In this world of sin we have many problems, but thanks to God we have solutions. He sent Jesus who taught us and He said: “These thing I have spoken to you so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” (John 16.33)

And JESUS has overcome the world because He came not only to teach and make us feel safe against anyone who wants to eliminate us because they are in contempt of God’s Court, but to pay the price we all deserve for the inherited sin which only gives eternal tribulation. And that, my friend, He did in the Cross, hurting, and shedding his blood because He was 100% human to feel pain, and 100% divine to be able to forgive us, no matter what, if we only believe in Him. That is why we should repeat this Bible verse up to the hilt:

For God so loved the World that He gave His Only Begotten Son so whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have ETERNAL LIFE.   (John 3.16)

And He did that by rising up again on the third day hence overcoming death for all of us.

HAPPY EASTER!!!
