If we are Human Beings all of us have been, because we are constantly changing. There are many things that can change our lives immediately like a change of mind, a change of address, a change of government, a drastic decision made, a good one like marriage, or a pregnancy, a new permanent visitor, a health diagnostic, bad news, a death of a loved one, an accident; actually, it could be many things.
I used the word Victim because other than the personal “decision” one, which is something we choose and happily accept the results, the others might come as a surprise and can cause discomfort. And that is not “good” for anyone who wants to have a peaceful life. But, we can be beneficiary of a change for “good”. That can be of happiness despite the counter effect it might represent. It all depends on the character of the subject. I remember when I was very young, in my twenty’s, I had an accident that changed my life completely. I lost my good health, my good job, my spouse, my security, my desire to continue living, and I was angry at God. I wanted to leave and escape all that surrounded me like if doing so I could erase the past. But, could the past leave me? Any bad choice then was going to make my life miserable. So rather than continuing with my misery, I decided to let my friends and family’s good intentions comfort me and that’s when I felt the love of them. I felt the blessing of churches praying for me. People sent me good books to read, great food to eat, and good advice that got me to thinking I could not let that goodness leave, and give up all of what the Lord had in store for me. I realized that if my Creator who loved me so much to come into this world and pay my debt so I could live forever, I wasn’t going to let Him down. He had brought me out of death so I could raise my children and teach them the good way to go in life, in school with their classmates and always building a life on the ROCK.
If God lets you experience a hardship is so you can come out beautiful and strong like a butterfly out of a cocoon. That is like the New Birth Jesus told Nicodemus one must have to enter the Kingdom of heaven (read John 3) I will leave you with verses that give you wisdom, like they did me:
-Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against the house; and yet it did not fall for it had been founded in the rock. (Matthew 7 24.25)
-Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman keeps awake in vain. (Psalm 127.1)
