Would We be Willing to Humble ourselves on Pursuit of Life?
How much do we value our life? Is it worth fighting for it? Some people have fallen into such bad depths that do not see any way out other than death, not realizing the penalty which is eternal. That is why we say: If the problem has a great solution to our life, why end it if we can mend it? Just like it’s not for us to take the law into our own hands, it is NOT good to take our Creator’s gift as a nuisance. We can make it right and thank God for He gives us now the opportunity to be forgiven; He will bless us eternally. Besides He has assured us that He: causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, (Romans 8.28 b) and if we love God, we will obey His commandments.
What happens in “this world” which is governed by the “corrupt prince” is that he wants everyone to worship him, just like he wanted Jesus to do it too, but Jesus knew how to outsmart him with the written Word, (Read Matthew 4.1-11) something we can do too if we are smart and prepared. But in order to do that, we must study the Scriptures and believe everything written there, and obey them. What happens is that we rather obey who is also a created being, and comes with lies because they are more “realistic” to our understanding, like someone told me once: Who in his right mind gets hit on a cheek and turns the other? That’s stupid, I’d hit them harder so they remember. It might sound stupid to the ones who rather be dead than sorry, but the ones who rather live than die eternally, will humble themselves and do whatever’s on their power to please who came to redeem the guilty by paying the price for us. The ones who think that by doing “worse” they will redeem themselves do not know the power of forgiveness. Forgiveness is NOT to reward anyone for the bad they have done, it is to let a higher authority decide to judge the issue, and He who knows everything and the intentions of the aggressor shall act. That is why when we turn the other cheek we are also asking God for forgiveness too. We also need it in case we have done something to others. That is called being humble and that’s why in the Lord’s Prayer we say: “lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”
We are God’s creation therefore He knows what we are capable of. He has asked us throughout the Bible not to worry for anything for whatever He decides is good for the humble one. He does not like the arrogant who thinks he can do anything for himself. Remember that He created us and has the power to end it all in one moment, but also in one moment he could change it all for good; reason for which we should be appreciative for every situation and ask Him for His protection, gratefully.
He has promised us safety if we trust and obey Him. Even in things that seem impossible for the abundance of evil against the “justice” He will be merciful, but we must be humble. His promise is:
If I shut up the heavens, so there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or I send pestilence among my people, and My people who are called by my name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7. 13-14)
