For my three daughters.
This is the month we honor the mother. Why? Because the Mother is unique. Like they say: Mother, there’s only one. The one who kept me in her womb for 9 months, defying any health or beauty inconvenience for it, and gave me the right to live. The one who fed me when I could not do it myself, the one that taught me how to walk, how to speak, how to bathe myself, to understand things through her experience, the one who taught me her values and was always there when I hurt, or whenever I needed it, the one who kept up our unity, no matter what. The one who gave up her portion of “whatever good” to help us and prevented any problem we might have had, becoming a magician who turned everything into goodness with a kiss. It is an Honor to be a mother.
But, before being a Mother, she was a woman, a male honoring woman, because without him, she could not become a mother, and that’s why she was the “Suitable helper” as God, our Creator called her. And why did He call her that? Because she’s going to do everything that naturally and ingeniously she would think of that her husband wouldn’t; and the other way around is also true, he thinks things naturally, that she wouldn’t think of; complementing each other.
A phrase of the Preacher when he marries a man and a woman is in Mathew 19.6b: “What God has joined together, let no man (or woman, or anything else) put asunder.” That’s why we should work on it so we do not break a blessed union, and for that the mother is honored too. The writer of Proverbs said it: An excellent wife, who can find? For her worth is far above jewels.(Proverbs 31.10) And a mother is a jewel.
Some mothers have had misfortunes in life that perhaps could’ve not been recognized as those “Jewels” but their work persistence in the Lord’s ways have made them worthy of the title for they have been smart as to gain wisdom from the only one giver of it, and guide their children through it. Also those who were not natural mothers and have been blessed with the many children around, well deserve the title too. That is why the Wisdom Instructor says:
“Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her the product of her hands, and let her work praise her in the gates.” (Proverbs 31.30-31)
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY TO ALL MOTHERS. MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS!!!
