Of our
parents or ancestors? . . . of our traditions?. . .of our friends and family of
the land that witnessed our first cry? I
guess we all were in one moment or another for myriad of reasons; especially at
that age when we think we know it all, and later we wished we had never done
what we did to any of them, and treat our children the same way our parents did,
which seemed embarrassing in front of our friends at the time, but we end up
doing the same thing we criticized then. And why is that?, because we grow
wise. That’s the way life was designed by our Creator, to be able to comply
with His wish for us, which is to love one another; to love God first, our
parents, brothers and sisters, relatives and friends and our neighbors as our
selves. And why was it that we were
ashamed of them? Could it be that the
“friends” we hung around with could not tolerate to see our old fashion family
loving us, or that they were so “smart” they wanted to take their place to step
all over us? When we hang around with that type of friends who simply agree
with us when we talk bad of our roots, they are probably looking to destroy us.
The smart people are the ones who realize that on time and return to the way
they used to be for they see that to hate their roots is a weakness; a lack of
knowledge. The common sense people that hear anyone talking bad about his/her
roots do not think one is wise rejecting his/her own on account of “whatever”,
but that one is a fool for leaving the only ones who really love him/her and that
would do anything, or pay any price for him. If your people leave you, who will
take care of you? Will the enemy? That is the “friends” you hate your people
for.
The
same thing happens with God. Many people reject Him when they feel ashamed to
be followers because they hate to be considered “crazy- fanatics”. But when
they realize what The Father did in order to save His children from eternal
condemnation, not only do they want to become crazy-fanatics, but want all their
loved ones to be that too. He is the only ONE who paid the price to save us
from eternal nightmare, because if dying means that there’s no more living,
like many people think, our souls rest for good, but we are eternal because we
were created in God’s likeness: Then God said, “Let us make man in Our
image, according to Our likeness;
(Genesis 1.26 a) so we will not Rest in Peace. We
will resuscitate to peace if we believed in Jesus or to eternal agony if we did
not. That is why we, Christians insist, because we do not want anyone to
perish. That is why we cry when people do not understand and fail to study the
Word of God. That is why we suffer when someone who once believed, does not
resist the enemy’s attack and gets corrupted. That is why we, parents, suffer when
our children who are so vulnerable go after the worthlessness of this world,
because they are not prepared. That is why God told Eve and Adam they would die
if they were disobedient. They did not die immediately, but eventually, they
and their descendants would.
But
God in his great Love provided a way in Jesus, so that whoever believes in Him does not
perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to
judge the world, but that it might be saved through Him. (John 3.16, 17) That is why it is wise to become
one of His family to be loved and cared for by Him. He provides a way to make
us feel good and be proud of Him. Jesus said: For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in
this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will
also be ashamed of him when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy
angels. (Mark 8.38)
