There are many ways of investing; and I am not talking about
money if that is the first thing that comes into your mind when you hear the
magic word. I am referring to time, intelligence, talent, heart, mind, soul, and
anything else we can use to serve others that we may be blessed with. Am I
going to be blessed by giving to others? In God’s word we find: It is more blessed to give than
to receive. (Acts 20:35 b) So if we gain a blessing in what we do, we
are “investing”.
We can also invest for our life or we can do it for our
death. You may think it is insane to invest for our death, and you might be right,
but believe it or not there are more people who are alive investing for their
death than you think. Anyone who does not give importance to the fact that Jesus
Christ gave his own life on this earth so we could share everlasting life with Him
is investing in death. Anyone who does not believe in Him is also investing in
death. Anyone who thinks that life ends at the cemetery and is therefore free
to do whatever he wants while on this earth no matter how many others may fall,
hurt or even die, is investing in death. Anyone who takes advantage of
situations in order to gain power, regardless of the sins they are endorsing,
is investing in death. . . and whoever backs him/her up is also investing in
it.
While on earth, Jesus spoke of a man who did not invest
wisely for he only thought of himself and his riches and wanted to build bigger
barns to store up all he had to enjoy in the future. He said God told him: “You
fool! This very night your soul is required of you; and now who will own what
you have prepared?”(Luke 12:20) Then Jesus said “So is the man who stores up
treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.”(Luke 12:21)
Do not be a fool, whatever
you have to invest, do it wisely.
